I am awkward around people when I first meet them but I am going to a camp and need some good advice!?

I have a church camp that I am going to in a few weeks and I am really excited because I have been once before and it was really uplifting and really fun. The problem is that this time I do not know anyone else that is going. I will be paired with a roommate and put into a group with about 30 or so people, but I am afraid I will feel too awkward the first 2 days. I am very outgoing when I am with people I know, and I don't worry about my appearance or anything, but for some reason I feel like I have nothing to say around new people. Everywhere you go at this particular camp you have to be escorted by a guy, which is no problem, but I feel boring and like they won't care to talk to me again. If I get to know them a little better I can be fun, but until then does anyone have any ideas about how to break the ice and good conversation topics other than the typical ';What is your favorite color, movie, sport, etc.?'; Please help!I am awkward around people when I first meet them but I am going to a camp and need some good advice!?

Hi, do u know anyone esle here? i dont ... my name is ..

what are you studying? (if u are school or college)

what do u hope to get out of the camp? it should be fun..

or talk about whats happening around u..

so have u been here before? and if so what was it like?I am awkward around people when I first meet them but I am going to a camp and need some good advice!?
I would just say something along the lines like so,how's it going ? And just be like tell me,what is it that you like to do for fun.
Well you said you went there last summer..so you can just ask them if they've ever been to the camp before. And if they have you can talk about when, who was there then, what they did, etc. And if they haven't been there before you can tell them how much fun you had last summer..and talk about the things that you did, maybe how some things have changed or how they haven't. That will break the ice, and then you can start talking about school or something, what grade they're in and whatnot : ) Hope that helps you out a bit.
