Two reasons: 1. Odds are the church is going to say that if they give 10% of all the money they have, God will provide their needs.





2. Church's are not financial experts.





I am a Christian and I believe in the idea of sharing my wealth with those less fortunate than myself...but I choose to do it directly...rather than to trust it to someone who is worrying about what color of carpet to put in the narthax.
Because they know that the church is just going to tell them to give their money to the church, and that this is the FIRST step toward financial freedom and all. People are getting smart enough to know that this isn't true.
Many churches offer finance classes that many people attend...





So, I would say that your question is incorrect.
They are embarrassed perhaps. Many do not know that a minister has to take courses in money management if he goes to college.
Because begging for money only works after you spend years brainwashing them.
