I'm a recent high school grad and have don't really have an interest in anything. Just recently I鈥檝e grown an interest in international business. I know I probably won鈥檛 get the most fun and rewarding career out of it, but I honestly don鈥檛 like anything else. I'm the type of person who knows when I don't like something and I know that I don't like anything because I've done tons and tons of research on every single job and career. I've also taken plenty of classes in anything that I think may interest me. I was home schooled, so I really need some helpful advice. The international business major really appeals to me, but I just want to know if it will be hot in the future. If I attain an international business degree then i really want to open up a business in the future, but i don鈥檛 know what kind...any suggestions as to what might be good for the future? Also, what kinds of jobs should I look forward to in this field? Please, give me as much information as you can. I do know that I have to master a foreign language in order to get ahead of the rest of the pack. I just want reassurance that I am not making the wrong decision鈥? I hope it鈥檚 not a useless degree. Please give me as much advice as you can. Thanks a lot!Is this a useless degree? Some people say it is and other people say it isn't. Thanks a lot for your advice.?
Go visit the academic counselor at the college of your choice. You will probably be advised to take your required courses first to give you a little more time to make up your mind. You might be able to meet with the chair of the business program or one of the assistant chairs and talk about your goals.
I would suggest internships or summer jobs with businesses that have offices overseas. That doesn't necessarily mean you would be sent overseas, but you would be in an environment where you would hear a lot of information that could help you finalize your decision.
Getting a start in business courses won't hurt. That's a good foundation for many majors and it can help you find a job when you graduate to help pay for your master's degree. That's when you will begin to fine tune what it is you want to do and where you will want to do it.Is this a useless degree? Some people say it is and other people say it isn't. Thanks a lot for your advice.?
Join the military, get some life experience and job training and grow up some. Then you'll have a clue AND school money.
FYI, you can not have possibly researched every career. The U.S. Code of Occupations lists over 2.4 million careers. Including things such as Quaill Farmer and Nuclear Reactor Diver.
Get some out-of-your house experience.
It is only useful if you are planning to get a master's degree in it. I grew up with a girl who majored in this and all she has is a bachelor's. She didn't put her degree into use.Her parents wanted her to earn a master's, but she refused. That is how useless it is going to be.
i think it will actually be a very big career in the future. the world is shrinking every day, and more an more businesses are/will be opening in countries other than where they originated.
