Going camping in the snow for a night or two. need advice please. there will be 3 or 4 people?

If you are all novices and haven't camped before in a tent.....

Make a fire away from all your tents. The fire pit will warm the ground, melt all the snow, and make everything around the fire pit turn into mud. You don't need that crap by where you sleep. Make the fire 25 feet away from your tent at least.

Stay dry, put a tarp under and over your tent. If it starts sleeting and you don't have water protection, you are going to be miserable. Also, you body heat will warm up the ground where you sleep, melting the snow. If you don't have a tarp on the ground, you may wake up miserable.

Extra socks and shoes. Keeping you feet dry is the key.

If you get cold, go for a walk. Moving around will heat you up.

Don't go camping to impress. Don't go out there with a nice pair of jeans, some stylish boots, and a nice jacket that won't do **** to keep you warm. Dress to stay warm. Your in the woods, who the hell cares what kind of clothes your wearing, at least your warm.

Bring some wood of your own. All the wood out there will be wet or close to it. Bring some starter wood, and enough to last for a few hours. Then start throwing on some wet wood you find and it will burn nice on a good fire with lots of coals. If you don't bring some wood of your own, you will be cold and fireless.

Make sure at least one person knows what the hell they are doing. Going camping in winter is nice, but if you get in trouble - keep a cool head, and think logically.Going camping in the snow for a night or two. need advice please. there will be 3 or 4 people?
dress warm wear clothes in layers bring warm boots with lots of dry socks bring food that wont freeze a good solid mountain tent is best and if you dont have winter sleeping bags put one inside the other and bring lots of blankets make sure all your cook stuff ie stoves work in the cold before you leave. the most important thing is to stay warm and DRY have funGoing camping in the snow for a night or two. need advice please. there will be 3 or 4 people?
Cool! This is one of the very few times where a campfire will be worth it! Bring lots of sleeping bags, blankets, candles, matches. Soap too. Bottled water and canned food! Have fun!
